Pinecrest, Fla. – June 30, 2016 – Gulliver Schools is pleased to announce that Sarah P. Hoffman will join Gulliver Preparatory School (grades 9-12) as a college and guidance counselor. She starts Monday, August 8.

Hoffman will bring to Gulliver more than 25 years of experience in the college admission field, most recently as a college and career counselor at Newton North High School in Newton, Massachusetts. She also has worked in admission at Smith College and has consulted for the admission offices of McGill University and College of Charleston, as well as for summer college application programs at Yale, Tufts and Columbia.

“We are so excited to have Sarah join our College and Guidance team,” said Frank Steel, Gulliver’s head of schools.  “She adds a wide range of experience – both as a college counselor and in college admissions – to our department, and we look forward to seeing Sarah work with our students to successfully navigate the complex world of college admissions.”

Prior to her work at Newton North, Hoffman was a college counselor at Northfield Mount Hermon School, a private college-preparatory boarding school in Northfield, Massachusetts. There, she also participated in admission programs, was an international advisor, sang with the World Music Chorus, and coached ice hockey and tennis.

Hoffman has a Master of Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in sociology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She is a member of  the National Association of Independent Schools and the National Association of College Admission Counseling.

Hoffman says she was very impressed by the applications she read from seniors at Gulliver while at Smith College. She is delighted to be joining the talented and diverse Gulliver community, and to live in Florida for the first time. As she noted, “I am eager to meet Gulliver families and am looking forward to enthusiastically supporting Gulliver’s unique academic, performing arts and athletic programs!”
